10:15 | 11:00 | OPENING KEYNOTE BLURRING THE BOUNDARIES: PROMETHEUS Released in 2012, Ridley Scott’s science fiction film Prometheus grossed over $403 million, making it the 15th highest grossing film of 2012 and the 159th highest-grossing film worldwide. But what really exceeded expectations was not the film itself, but the accompanying viral campaign – one of the most original and absorbing in recent memory. The campaign started with the release of a video featuring a speech by Guy Pearce, in character as Peter Weyland, about his vision for the future. Set in 2023, the video presents a futuristic vision of a TED conference. The video’s release was accompanied by a fictional TED blog about the 2023 conference and a tie-in website for the fictional Weyland Corporation. This was followed by additional viral videos, multiple interactive websites and a fan-driven social media presence. The campaign generated thousands of likes, tweets and +1’s over the span of a few months – and became one of the most influential social media film campaigns to date. In this opening keynote speech, producer Caspar Delaney and director Luke Scott will explain how the campaign blurred the boundaries between content and marketing, fiction and reality, story and game.

11:15 | 12:00 | DIALOGUE THE VALUE CHAIN OF FUTURE PUBLISHING Our two distinguished guests literally represent two different ends of the publishing industry. One of them stands for traditional publishing, the other one can be taken as a representative for online book selling. As different as their business might be, the boundaries are getting less and less clear. In this summit dialogue, our two speakers will share and analyze their views, with the audience, on aspects such as the development of digital publishing, e-commerce, e-readers, cross media strategies and, last but not least, the internationalization of the Chinese publishing industry.

12:30 | 2:00 | LUNCH BREAK |
2:00 | 3:00 | SPOTLIGHT II: Deutscher Design Club VIRTUAL STORYTELLING The German Designer Club (DDC) is an initiative of designers and “design in mind” companies that spreads the message of design excellence, a platform for interdisciplinary designers in Germany and abroad. Ten DDC representatives from highly successful German agencies will speak about Storytelling in the field of the creative industries, using - words. Words are the key elements, the “building blocks” of stories - and they build a bridge between the different DDC members, whose backgrounds are as varied and manifold as can be. Most representative German design methods are still influenced by Bauhaus and “Ulmer Schule”. This means: however diverse the different approaches might be – whenever it comes to design, semiotics will be the one crucial instrument. A language, its words: these are the bricks of a story, the source, which constitutes everything.

3:00 | 3:45 | CASE STUDY STORY OF SUCCESS III: HOW TO DEVELOP TRANSMEDIA STRATEGY IN A CHINESE CONTEXT How did China's famed and famous Cloudary Corporation develop from a publishing enterprise into the cross-media cultural corporation it is today? Furthered and enabled by the surge of digital publishing and technical advancements of the last few years, Cloudary has achieved astonishing results with its copyright sales of online literature works, engaging a nation-wide audience and internationally successful directors such as Chen Kaige. During the speech Liu Hua will give insights into the numerous success stories that come from film and television adaptations of original online literature, as well as providing us with the chance to “take a peek into the cradle” where this most contemporary form of Chinese writing and cross-media philosophy was born.

4:45 | 5:30 | KEYNOTE THE REBIRTH OF STORYTELLNG For hundreds of years, books haven't moved — stories were told with static words or pictures on a page or screen, leaving the reader's imagination to do the heavy-lifting. But technology and design have now combined with creativity so that stories can be shown, rather than told. Merging audio, video, text and illustrations allows for the creation of a more visceral, immersive and realistic storyworld, one where the suspension of disbelief is a thing of the past. why-interactive-fiction-is-just-really-hard-to-do
